Curriculum Intent
The Rockwood Academy English Department aims to equip all our students with the skills and confidence to communicate in both written and spoken English. We aim to improve the literacy of students and develop avid and passionate readers, through the study of diverse texts. Our aims are to:
- Empower students to take responsibility for their own learning by engaging with a diverse range of texts to become critical and independent individuals.
- Nurture curiosity and creativity by providing a stimulating and engaging curriculum.
- Foster a love and appreciation of literature and language to broaden student understanding of other worlds, lives and experiences.
